I will be a participating artist in “BLOWOUT” A DC performance Art Festival. I am doing a new performance called “I am attracted to someone else.” inspired by my latest photo series, "Conversations with my therapist". Come check it out on Saturday, June 16th at the Hillyer Art Space between 1-8pm.

BLOWOUT! DC Performance Art FestivalHillyer Art Space, 9 Hillyer Ct NW, Washington, DC 20001Saturday, June 16, 1-8pmWashington, DC- It’s getting hot out, and with summer comes festivals.  In celebration of the first year of the performance art series Soapbox, Hillyer Art Space is excited to present BLOWOUT! On June 16, 2012, 1-8pm, please join us for a day-long festival of performance art, bringing back past Soapbox artists as well as new performers, featuring more than fifteen performances throughout the day.  The participating artists were asked to consider summer itself as a departure point in the pieces they perform at the festival.  Performances will include Kristina Bilonick and DC Cheer!, Eleanor Barba, Carolyn Becker, Patricia Brace, Bradley Chriss, Chanan Delivuk, Michelle Gomez, Ginny Huo, Emma Jaster, Carolina Mayorga, René Medrano, Kunj Patel, Paul Shortt, Vincent Valerio, Jonathan Wille, Samantha Wilson, Kool Raunch Collective, and Swedish/Danish performance artist Annika B. Lewis.  Full schedule to be announced.
Soapbox is a monthly performance art series at Hillyer Art Space which seeks to increase exposure to this underrepresented form in DC.  In its first year of programming, we’ve seen ten fantastic Soapbox events, and a tremendous outpouring of support from a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund Soapbox.  Through the funds we raised, we have been able to continue Soapbox as a donation-only event, as aspect of the series which is critically important to our mission to provide accessibility to performance art in DC.  Admission to BLOWOUT! will likewise be donation only, $10 suggested.
The final line-up and complete schedule will be available online on the facebook event page, and on http://www.artsandartists.org/hillyer/events-soapbox.html. For more information about participating artists, please visit dcperformanceart.tumblr.com, and follow @eamesarmstrong on twitter for updates.
Hillyer Art Space is located at 9 Hillyer Ct NW, Washington, DC 20008, behind the Phillips Collection, near the Dupont Circle Metro Station
